socially disadvantaged families so that they become
more self-reliant. |

Muis’
Annual Grant For Social Services (MAGRASS)
- Annual
Zakat grants given to Voluntary Welfare
Organisations (VWOs) and mosques
- For social & religious programmes that help restore self-reliance
to Muslim families with special needs (FSNs)

Education & Training Support Scheme (ETSS)
- Provide
opportunity for poor and needy families
to upgrade their skills and knowledge
- Funding
provision for educational programmes, enrichment
classes and skills acquisition courses

Empowerment
Partnership Scheme (EPS)
- Holistic help
package for poor and needy families covering economic,
social and religious empowerment programmes
- Customized programmes
for each family member, managed by an assigned family
counselor-cum-case manager
- Targeted at
families facing multiple challenges
- Low-income
families currently in Muis’ Zakat Recipient
Database
- Applicant
is either a Singapore Citizen or Permanent
Resident and is 45 years old and below
- Does
not possess either GCE ‘O’ or
‘N’ Level passes

Combined family monthly income less than
$1,500
- Families are
assigned to VWOs based on proximity of residence
- Families
are interviewed to ascertain economic, social & religious needs by assigned counselor-cum-case
manager
- Each family
member gets an individual Client Plan (ICP) where
he/she attends prescribed programmes eg. life-skills
workshop for parents or religious education for
their children
- All
fees for prescribed programmes are approved
and funded by Muis
- Case-Manager
monitors families’ progress & submit 6 monthly report to Muis
- Muis
evaluates the progress reports from the
VWOs to decide the families further involvement
in the EPS

Families will be on the EPS for a maximum
of three years
